You see them come up, a number of sustainability terms. When you go looking for information about sustainability, you come across a lot of these different abbreviations and terms. But what do they actually mean? In this article, we explain some sustainable terms to you!

What does Sustainability mean:

Sustainability is the balance between people, environment and economy so as not to deplete the earth. It is important for the current generation to take good care of the environment so that there are no problems with the earth for generations to come. If all fossil fuels are consumed now there will be a big problem for future generations. CO2 emissions and global warming are also things that are subsumed under the concept of sustainability.

You can divide the concept of sustainability into four topics: mobility, energy, raw materials and food. Mobility includes everything with transportation. What can you change about this? For example, you can buy an electric car, travel less by plane or even work from home to be on the road less with the car. Energy covers everything to do with greening the economy. The energy items that can be used for this, which are sustainable, are wind or solar energy. Under the topic of resources falls everything with what you buy, all stuff. Recycle all your plastic bottles or appliances that no longer work, buy refurbished phones or laptops and use reusable bags for your bread/vegetables/fruit. Finally, the topic of food. The way our food is produced can and should be much more mindful of climate, plants and animals. What you can do with this is eat more plant-based, consume less meat and buy local. Also a big topic here is food waste.

Sustainability is the balance between people, environment and economy so as not to deplete the earth.

What does CSR mean:

CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility. This means that a company is aware of its environmental and human impact. They consider the balance between people, the environment and the economy (PPP). Companies that focus on corporate social responsibility are actively committed to adding value to society. CSR is not an end in itself, but a continuous process to make things better. As a company, you are immediately 1-0 ahead if you are CSR.

What are SDGs?

What are the 17 SDGS from the UN? SDGs are 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. With the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, all United Nations member states want to work toward a sustainable future. The 193 countries affiliated with the United Nations (UN) have agreed on 17 global Sustainable Development Goals to address the major climate problem. At the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals, or Sustainable Development Goals, are ending extreme poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change. Instead of just being about aid from rich to poor countries, the development agenda now applies to all countries. The goals provide a global compass for challenges such as the climate crisis, inequality and injustice. Every country's situation is different, but these global goals apply to all countries and all people. In addition, countries work on their own goals and, where possible, contribute to the (overarching) goals of other countries. The idea behind the world goals is that no one should be left behind and that everyone should have the opportunity to build a better future. View the
