Internship Description

Foundation SDG Netherlands facilitates a growing movement of over 1,400 parties, all contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are looking for a proactive intern who we can involve in all activities. 

Every year, SDG Netherlands and its partners organize the SDG Action Week with the main event the SDG Action Day on Sept. 25. There are hundreds of events taking place throughout the Netherlands that are coordinated and connected from Amsterdam. SDG Netherlands also maintains a strong network of (umbrella) organizations and alliances. We facilitate them to achieve and accelerate social changes (transitions) needed to achieve the SDGs in the Netherlands, for example with projects around sustainable procurement, social sustainability and food transition, among others.

You will go along to events around the country, help organize meetings and help coordinate activities for various initiatives such as the SDG youth team, campaigns and the sustainable purchasing network. You will also contribute to increasing and activating the local and national network of SDG Netherlands. 

The internship starts preferably on September 1, 2024, for the duration of 6 months. In consultation, a shorter internship (minimum 4 months) or other start date is possible. 

Depending on the project managers you support, your duties will include the following:

  • Coordinate the SDG Voices (young sustainable experts who give workshops and presentations). You will provide the training program, liaise with clients and ensure they are prepared for assignments.
  • Supports SDG events around the country to inform, inspire and activate citizens, policy makers, leaders and youth. You will help prepare scripts, think about programming and provide support on the day.
  • Contributes to the development of educational materials for various audiences (from corporate employees, civil servants, teachers to status holders). 
  • You will engage with various organizations and companies, collaborate on communications and help organize meetings around the projects in relation to the network.
  • You will conduct background research to support projects around social & green issues.
  • Finally, you jump in where needed. By the way, we all do that. We are a small and friendly team, so everyone helps each other.

Do you recognize yourself in this?

  • Available at least 3 or 4 days a week (24 or 32 hours per week);
  • Minimum college level of work and thinking;
  • Social, committed and initiative-oriented;
  • Organized, keeps track and is "hands on.
  • Can write catchy and concise;
  • Enjoys traveling the country to attend meetings;
  • Enjoys presenting in front of a group and/or would like to improve presentation skills;
  • Having knowledge of WordPress, Drive and Zoom is a plus.

  • The ability to "SDG Voice" (where you may give presentations on the SDGs to groups of people/youth) and help support this program;
