Communications & Public Affairs intern

Internship Description

Who are we?

The Dutch Renewable Energy Association (NVDE) advocates an energy supply based entirely on renewable energy. By joining forces from across the sector, the NVDE aims to accelerate the process of energy transition with vigor, inspiration and a great deal of enthusiasm. The NVDE represents more than 6,000 companies in the renewable energy sector. The organization is at the vibrant heart of the transition to sustainable energy in the Netherlands. (Online) communication is essential to achieving this goal. The means for this include social media, initiatives such as the Energy weather reports, our website, news and member letters, press releases, opinion articles and events such as the Open Energy Day.

The NVDE consists of a team of about 15 people, including three on the communications team. This communications team is in close contact with Public Affairs in order to align communication and lobbying strategies. These strategies are often strongly intertwined.

Who are you?

Your duties

At NVDE, you will gain experience in a wide range of communication tasks. With us, you will be given a lot of responsibility. For example, you will keep track of our social media (many members of parliament and prominent figures in the energy transition follow us), the NVDE website or you will contribute to the newsletter. You may also get the chance to interview someone yourself for the newsletter, such as Minister Jetten Whether the CEO of TenneT.

We believe it is important that in addition to executive duties, you dare to think along at the strategic level about our communication strategy: how do we get the NVDE in the spotlight with politicians? How do we ensure that a motion is passed? Does this require a social media campaign, or an opinion piece in the newspaper? And how do we frame this? But also: how do we get the general public on board with the energy transition? Should we organize an event, a debate or a podcast series? When a specific strategy is chosen, you may also implement it yourself. The division of tasks is by mutual agreement.

What do we offer?

You will receive a good internship allowance. After your internship, you will have gained valuable practical experience within a professional organization and will have expanded your network in the sustainable business community. An internship with the NVDE means making an impact. With our communication initiatives, we get a lot of media coverage. With us, because you are an important part of the team, and not just a coffee-holder, you can reach a lot of people and bring about change with your efforts.

In addition, after your internship, you will have gained hands-on experience of communication tasks across the spectrum: from devising and implementing online campaigns to thinking about an appropriate infographic. You will also know all about the energy transition after your internship.
