Internship Description

A green and healthy Rotterdam, that is the mission of Foundation Nature City Rotterdam. We offer recreation, education and participation to stimulate sustainable thinking and action among the city's residents. At our eight special petting zoos and fourteen inspiring (school) gardens, visitors - young and old - discover and learn all about nature and the environment. Spread throughout the city, we reach over a million visitors a year, including 50,000 students. Natuurstad employs over one hundred employees and one hundred volunteers with a heart for nature.

Would you like to develop yourself further in nature education and are you looking for a (graduation) internship? Do you provide support to our educational staff and would you like to develop teaching materials independently and do you enjoy taking on other tasks as well? It is possible to conduct research in consultation.

What do you do as an Education Intern?

 As an education intern, you will provide support to the education staff in teaching lessons at Nature City's education centers and gardens. This includes helping prepare lessons, assisting during lessons and supporting with maintenance in the gardens. Other duties include organizing activities at the site(s) and creating posts for the newspaper and social media. You will work with colleagues from Education, the Petting Zoo and Gardens. And you ensure that visitors feel welcome, among other things by telling them what is growing and flourishing. So that they take 'your' location into their hearts.  

 

Who are you?

You have a proactive attitude and are enthusiastic about contributing to the education department within Nature City. You are independent and take initiative. Above all, you have an affinity with nature and enjoy working with children. You can also work well together and quality - doing your job well - is important to you.    

 

In short: we are looking for an intern who loves animals, plants as well as people and would like to develop in a practical learning process.

 

You are currently enrolled in your studies and need to do a (graduation) internship or research. You have experience guiding groups (desired); In addition, you are honest and show how you work; and have a no-nonsense (Rotterdam) mentality.

 

The application for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is part of the procedure. We want to offer our visitors an environment in which they feel safe and secure. As an intern, you play an important role in this. This is why we ask for a VOG when you join us.
