Intern in international corporate social responsibility

Internship Description

Do you want to help entrepreneurs do business responsibly abroad? And are you looking for a challenging internship starting in February 2023? An internship in which one day you will identify CSR risks in international trade chains and the next day you will work on solutions to those risks? Then you might be the new intern International Corporate Social Responsibility (IMVO) at MVO Netherlands, Europe's largest sustainable business network.

As an intern in the IMVO team, you will work on making international chains more sustainable for Dutch companies. What does that mean in concrete terms? Well, you will work a lot on the development of our CSR Risk Checker, which helps entrepreneurs identify and mitigate the CSR risks in their company free of charge. You update the international risk database and formulate advice per product and area. This covers, for example, child labor, environmental issues, corruption or conflicts. Curious about how it works? Do it yourself the check!

In addition to the CSR Risk Checker, various themes are being worked on within MVO Nederland in the following areas The New Economy. Some of these projects are highlighted on the website. As a result, there are many opportunities for you to join and take on tasks where your interests lie!

You maintain the CSR Risk Checker and update the data. And that's important, considering the more than 28,000 unique visitors per year and more than 6,000 risks and advices in three different languages. A huge amount of information, where we could really use your help. Below your main activities:

  • You do source research on potential risks by country and product and any related advice;
  • you check reports from research organizations, NGOs and news websites so that risks and advice are always up to date;
  • You write texts for entrepreneurs in English and Dutch;
  • You will work with the marketing communications team to communicate about the tool through social media, blogs and newsletters;
  • You give presentations on the tool to internal and external stakeholders;
  • You actively engage with users of the tool to hear what could be improved;
  • but you think about improvements yourself.

In addition to working on the CSR Risk Checker (your main body of work), you will have the opportunity to explore further interests in the internship by joining a topic that appeals to you. This can be done in further consultation and based on your own learning goals.

As an intern, you are a valuable addition to our team. You are a university student doing a relevant course in sustainability, international relations, environment, social sciences or conflict studies. You have a good understanding of international CSR issues, have an affinity with (SME) companies and are good at translating sustainability issues into practical texts for entrepreneurs. Experience with online writing and tools is a plus.

Working at CSR Netherlands means contributing to the tipping point towards the new economy. The internship is a great addition to your studies because you will learn to translate your academic insights and knowledge into practical tools for entrepreneurs. You will also gain insight into the problems and solutions of sustainable entrepreneurship in practice.

You will learn every day from enthusiastic and progressive colleagues in a nice, open working atmosphere. There is plenty of room within the projects for your own learning goals. We are also open to your ideas and suggestions, because we also learn from you. Furthermore, we have a large network with various partners, allowing you to quickly expand your network.

We offer you an internship for five or six months for a minimum of 32 and a maximum of 40 hours per week. It is possible to combine your internship with a graduation project. However, you must be able to devote at least 3 days a week to the various internship activities.

You will receive a monthly internship stipend of gross 300 euros at 40 hours. You will also receive a laptop on loan. If you do not have a student public transport pass we will reimburse your travel expenses on the basis of second class public transport.

Our office is located next to stadium Galgenwaard in Utrecht. You have a lot of freedom in arranging your hours. Preferably you will start in February/March 2023.

MVO Netherlands is Europe's largest sustainable business network. Entrepreneurs join us to move faster - together with others - to the new economy. Our goal is clear: by 2025, 20 percent of our economy should be new. Right now we are at 15.4 percent. So still plenty to do. For more information see our website
