Intern for Events and Campaigns: Climate Justice (32 hours per week)
ActionAid is organizing the Feminist Climate Academy again this fall, for young people who are concerned about climate change and want to stand up against injustice. In six months these young people will learn from national and international experts all about the different forms of climate (in)justice, why a feminist approach is needed and what solutions there are to tackle the climate crisis. They also learn how to campaign and influence policy. They then put these skills into practice by carrying out their own actions in small groups.
ActionAid Netherlands' Policy & Programmes team is looking for someone who wants to learn about organizing and shaping the Feminist Climate Academy while also learning about climate justice and women's rights!
What you will learn:
- Hosting online and physical interactive sessions, a training weekend, and a major public event;
- Proactively liaise with and mentor Feminist Climate Academy participants;
- Thinking along about participants' actions and supporting their implementation;
- Working with partner organizations;
- How climate justice and women's rights relate;
- How campaigning and policy advocacy works;
- The ins & outs of ActionAid's work in a global context.
Who you are and what you can do:
- You are interested in feminism, climate, and/or politics (field of study does not matter);
- You are fluent in Dutch and write and speak English well;
- You want to contribute to a better world;
- You would like to develop your organizational skills and enjoy organizing events;
- You can plan well and keep track of multiple activities simultaneously;
- You enjoy interacting with people and communicate easily;
- You enjoy thinking in solutions and have a flexible attitude;
- You are enrolled in a college or university and you have an internship supervisor;
- Experience organizing events and campaigns, coordinating volunteers, and/or political activities is a plus.
What we offer:
- An independent, well-supervised and challenging internship with plenty of room for creativity and own initiative;
- Space for your own study assignment (by arrangement);
- Gain experience in campaigning, activism and lobbying from a feminist perspective;
- An internship allowance of 350 euros per month based on 32 hours. Sometimes you will need to be available in the evenings or weekends, these hours can of course be compensated;
- Travel reimbursement (based on public transportation second class);
- The opportunity to regularly attend interesting internal and external meetings;
- The opportunity to learn and work on a personal learning objective, which you will establish with your internal internship supervisor before you start;
- An intermediate and final evaluation to adjust your learning goals as needed.
Start Date: July (by mutual agreement) for 5-6 months
